This talk is intended to open up debate about the potential for a longer arts project involving the speakers and other local groups and agencies. Artist David Faithfull will discuss his current exhibition Earth, Wind and Fission, which engages with the history of power-production in the region, marking the closure of Cockenzie power station. Kate Sloan will give an overview of the gallery’s programming and how this exhibition fits with the gallery’s Monument Project. Curator Diana Stevenson will discuss the research she has been carrying out, looking at various aspects of the Power Station’s life, work and closure. The presentation will focus on the diverse issues raised by the Power Station, from the building’s architectural significance to its place within the broader context of industry in the Forth estuary.
