Scottish Diaspora Tapestry

Scottish Diaspora Tapestry

As part of the Homecoming Scotland Celebrations, Prestonpans will be the first to see the completed Scottish Diaspora tapestry, which depicts the contribution Scots have made to countries around the world. Thousands are expected to flock to the launch on 31 May at Prestonpans Community Centre. The exhibition runs until 8 June.

The tapestry, which was inspired by the Battle of Prestonpans tapestry, will involve volunteers from 25 countries around the world, as well as homeland communities in Scotland.

The Scottish Diaspora Tapestry is the creation of the Prestoungrange Arts Festival in Prestonpans, with key support from Barons Courts of Prestoungrange & Dolphinstoun, hundreds of stitchers and Scotophiles globally, CreativeScotland, the Scottish Government’s Diaspora Division, VisitScotland, EventScotland, and Bòrd na Gàidhlig.
